Farm to Yarn (previously Lancashire Farm Wool) is definitely yarn with provenance. Kate Schofield is a spinner, weaver and knitter (amongst many other skills) who is dedicated to supporting local farmers and heritage breeds of sheep.

The Whitefaced Woodland flock live in Far Arnside, this breed from the Cheshire/Derbyshire borders carries the genes of the extinct Silverdale or Warton Crag sheep! The photo shows an image of the last Silverdale/Warton Crag ewe taken in 1900. Kate told me an interesting story that when Bonnie Prince Charlie marched through Lancashire his army took local sheep with them to eat on the way, but they only got as far as Derby before fleeing and that is why a breed from the Cheshire/Derbyshire borders carries the North Lancashire genes!! Love that!
