Finally - here she is!
A woollen spun 4 ply yarn from the fleeces of happy pedigree Poll Dorset lambs from a single farm in Quernmore, Lancaster.
We handpicked through the tufts of fleece and you can tell - the yarn is bouncy but lambswool soft.
I have named the wool after a Lancastrian hero Jennett Cragg, who travelled to London alone on horseback to rescue her orphaned grandchildren and brought them back to Quernmore. I wrote a blog post about it, the story moved me and I wanted it to be heard. A loving, strong Lancastrian - just like this yarn.
100% pure Poll Dorset lambswool spun in Yorkshire
N.B. Jennett is woollen spun 2 ply lambswool yarn, light and delicate with a soft twist. I am not recommending this yarn for socks, please treat her gently when on the winder and needles but be reassured that the fabric she creates is sturdy and strong. (I have found many on the swift and pulled back knitting several times and have had no problems but she is of a more delicate nature.)
Due to the lambswool being so soft I can't recommend this yarn for socks. (Until I've tried and tested it!)
