Woolfest 2017
The happiest of news – Northern Yarn will have a mini stand at Wool Fest 2017! I will be part of a new initiative, a collection of niche and new businesses situated in the auction mart. I’m thrilled! Last year I went along with an amazing group of women from a knitting group, I wandered around soaking everything up and admiring the gorgeous wool and sheep! (I believe there was a sheep that was literally the size of a small horse that I was a little bit intimidated by – I can’t remember which breed it was but it was a mighty beast!) There were so many stands to see and people to talk to it was quite overwhelming; the sounds, smells and colours - I loved every minute. I fell in love with the Castlemilk sheep from Dodgson Wood and it was great meeting Maria & John. The first day I took their wool to the market a customer came to look at the wool and noticed that she had been right next to their farm working on butterfly conservation! She had been admiring the sheep and decided she had to make a cardigan with their wool! (I saw it recently and its beautifully made and wonderfully warm.) Yarn with a story = clothing heaven.
I couldn’t imagine then that I would have a stall at Woolfest myself – but I do and it’s just brilliant.
If you’re visiting then please come and say hello, you may or may not be able to get a sensible word out of me but I can promise that I will have a smile on my face.
