We are so happy to be stocking this beautiful French yarn from De Rerum Natura! Every part of the process of making this yarn is carefully considered; from harvesting fleece from the Arles merino (a breed that has been part of the landscape for centuries) from certified farms in South East France - to the careful sorting, carding and combing (no carbonisation). The yarn does not undergo any bleaching or super wash treatment, and the dyes are used sparingly and no harmful substances go back into nature after washing. Portuguese black merino fleece is blended in to create a beautiful, mottled undyed shade which in turn creates depth when dye is added.

I would suggest clicking through and reading more about the process and how De Rerum Natura started and business practice, it's fascinating and inspiring!

Gilliatt is a worsted weight yarn, happy on 4mm - 5mm needles.

Yarn info:

100g balls 270 yds / 250m

GAUGE (for 10 x 10 cm of st st)

 19 st x 27 rows, 4 mm needles / US 6

18 st x 26 rows, 4,5 mm needles / US 7

17 st x 25 rows, 5 mm needles / US 8

**Please note that very dark or particularly saturated colours such as "émeraude" are more likely to bleed during blocking. If you plan to knit with lighter colours, we recommend that you test a swatch first. If you find excess dye in the first wash, we recommend that you repeat the rinse bath until it is clear before drying your work. **
