We are big fans of British wool - as I think you might have guessed by now! World of Wool have been big advocates and producers of breed specific tops for years and now we're thrilled to see these undyed, finished yarns! Always beautifully spun in Yorkshire, meet Origins...
Jacob - Aran weight:
Naturally textured and undyed, Grey Jacob wool brings a bold, earthy tone shaped entirely by the fleece itself. It is rich, matte, and full of depth.
More rustic in handle with a lively, woolly bounce, it creates fabric with structure and warmth. Ideal for outer layers and pieces designed to last, where character and durability take centre stage.
Manx Loaghtan - Aran weight:
A rare heritage breed from the Isle of Man, Manx Loaghtan sheep are distinctive for their multiple horns and naturally brown fleece, ranging from soft fawn to deep chocolate tones.
The wool is fine to medium in handle with a dry, springy character that creates fabric with good structure and warmth. Well suited to textured knits and pieces that highlight natural, undyed colour variation.
Zwartbles - Aran weight:
A breed originating from the Netherlands and now established in the UK, Zwartbles sheep are known for their striking dark fleece and distinctive white facial markings. Their wool is typically deep brown to near black.
Soft with a smooth, even handle, Zwartbles wool has a gentle loft and produces well-defined stitches with a clean finish. Suitable for garments and accessories where a darker, uniform shade and balanced softness are preferred.
